Urinalysis is a diagnostic test that can reveal functioning of the kidney or urinary system in your pet. These tests are used when diabetes or other metabolic diseases are suspected. A urinalysis also gives a veterinarian a more complete picture of your pet’s health.
Urine for testing may be collected in the veterinarian’s office by needle, a catheter, or at home when the pet urinates and the owner captures a sample.
The sample of urine can indicate infection and disease by indicating the levels of protein and glucose in the pet’s system.
